throw a little glitter on it honey, and go dancing!

I am back in Scotland now, but before I left the smoggy, KFC-scented embrace of Lewisham I indulged in a little bit of ARTS'N'CRAFTSWOMANSHIP. Home improvement. Divinely-ordained creativity. Not to toot my own horn, but let's just say that if managing to stick glitter onto things without actually sticking myself to the table counts as anything vaguely artistic, then I am basically a one-woman Pinterest board right now*.

And now Hamish looks even swaggier than before. SMUG LIFE INDEED.

I still have loads of letters left, just need to decide on a slogan for my Aberdeen bedroom wall now. I am pretty tempted to just go for ABERDOOM, not gonna lie.

*...I stuck some glitter onto letters from a pre-existing banner kit I bought in a junk tourist shop in Amsterdam. Div-friendly!

AMSTERJAMZ

Just got back from visiting BFF in Amsterdam yesterday! (I hope you like my hilarious title for this post, by the way. #borntobeahack) Had such an ace time running round town drinking 8% beer under windmills and on canal boats, eating delicious fried kroketten and bitterballen, trawling gigantic street and warehouse markets for mad sartorial bargainzzz, dancing to rock & roll music in sweaty smoky clubs, looking at lots of marv exhibitions and also chillin out blowing bubbles.

This was from the Sara Cwynar exhibition at FOAM, which was totally so beautiful that I defied the ENTIRE PURPOSE of the message of the piece by taking a photograph of it. I pretty much love any artist who plays with memento mori/vanitas/pop art/found objects, and therefore she is my new fave.

Delicious flavoured liqueurs from Wynand Fockink. Mine was cherry, vanilla and orange blossom.

This was in Johan van der Keuken's amazing film exhibition at the Eye, we got trapped in there in a trance for about 3 hours watching all his beautiful bits and bobs. You can watch his first short, Paris a l'Aube, here.

note the excellent sign that was held up for me at the airport

I also spent all ma moneyyyyyyyyy. Though it was all under 4 Euros apiece so thas cool right?? I was particularly pleased with the pink silk shirt and the long paisley skirt, gonna be a BALLER librarian this summer.

Can't wait for exams to be over and for the sun to put his hat on so I can spend my whole June/July/Aug crying about the fact that this is my last summer holiday before graduation and then I'll prob have to become an office drone lying in the grass like a cat and drinking strawberry beer. Whilst wearing a a gingham dress and a straw hat, for extra carefree factor.

one bourbon, one scotch, one beer

A somewhat unimaginative theme. Paint what you know, I guess?

put down your chosen ones

I've been feeling rather gloomy of late. The solution is threefold; Curly Wurlys, charity shopping for Satanic literature, and listening to Elvis Costello.

also, the Elvis LP came with a free poster!

And my lovely friend Diana bought me lots of seafood noodles and an excellent mug. So I really should perk up at some point. I just want it to be the summerrrr nowwwwwww.

good luck wanda & earl

FREEEEEDOOMMMMMM. after a hectic couple of weeks of art gallery stewarding, hugely depressing essay writing (one on the decayed nature of modern life and one on 'the pointless universe', ohhh yesss thank you English degree you really help me with my existential angst) and a smidgen of heavy drinking, I am SO READY to get all my films developed/watch Broadchurch on ITV, which apparently features my Granny's old house/go dancing/run home to London now.

also; taking stupid pictures of my EXCELLENT fat man jumpers when I should be reading Nietzschean theory

Another extremely useful thing I did while procrastinating was stalk through the entire website of this artist my little sister messaged me about who she's studying at the moment, how cool is this guy?

For real though, HE MAKES THESE. WITH HIS HANDS. Amazing.

in the bricked-up room they lead me to

So I am currently volunteering at this great exhibition by Thomas Hicks at Peacock Arts Centre, it's all these lovely weird Shrigley-ish futuristic dark animated short films and drawings. I am "stewarding" which means I am the sap on the chair telling people not to touch stuff, but being the dreamy layabout I am I actually don't mind sitting in the corner for 5 hours reading Yeats and Tennyson SLASH flitting round the deserted gallery taking photos and generally being a bellend.

If you live in Aberdeen (HA LOL JK no one does), please come down! Otherwise, this is one of my favourites of the videos; watch it, it is beautiful (I think so EVEN THOUGH I have already watched it a conservative estimate of 30 times from my corner chair);

cold snap

Days spent staring out of rainy windows and evenings huddled by the fire, strolls through icy parks, getting lost in the treasure caves of tall thin winding-staired book shops and being transformed into a troll after drinking troll beer.

five-star, double-rated astronavagatrix

I have a vast ocean of love for Pam 'cooler than Westwood' Hogg.

and not just because I stalked her for a short period in 2008

I love her whole ubertacky, nippley, jumpsuity, domme-Barbarella metallic thing. (although alas, they are just not meant for my people, i.e. broke D-cup 5'2 goblins). But I was so glad to see her bubble up onto my screen last week as I stalked LFW from a-extremely-fucking-far.

CAN WE BASK PLEASE;
