angels in the architecture, spinning in infinity

This is going to be a short-and-crappy post (the way I like it, dude), but I just got back from New York and OH MY GODDDD. It was bloomin' incredible. I have sunburn, jet lag, sleep deprivation and in all likelihood/deservation alcohol poisoning, and still had one of the best weeks of my life. We went to the MoMA and the Met, Gay Pride and the Coney Island Mermaid parade, listened to Alabama Shakes live in Central Park, sat by the Hudson River til 7am after dancing all night, went up the Empire State Building at midnight, walked over the High Line from Chelsea to the Meatpacking district, went to Katz's Deli, had $2 pizza in Brooklyn, said hello to the Statue of Liberty, wandered from one end of the city to the other til our feet blistered, and drank at AMAZING rooftop bars. Also I may have fallen asleep in Central Park in a bandeau dress and sunburnt myself into a Rothko painting. I'm still waiting for my disposables to be developed, so instead here is a picture of the one souvenir I bought;

SO TACKY

Yeeee boiiii.

i am unsmotable!

Okay I know I JUST did a post on a lady I'm obsessed with, but fortunately/unfortunately I get obsessed with a lot of ladies - pretty sure I have girl crushes more often than boy crushes at this point.

My newest love is Jessa Johansson, played by Jemima Kirke, from Lena Dunham's much hatedSLASHloved TV show Girls - not only is her name BASICALLY A TRENDY BASTARDIZATION OF JESS JOHNSON, I.E. MY NAME, but also she is unbelievably, clichedly cool, with a kickin' 70s groupie type wardrobe and all of the best lines in the series. She generally floats around in a kimono breaking men's hearts, abusing strangers, and generally bringing the fun in a big way. A salute to my bitchy British ladies everywhere.

"Just so you know, I'm going to eat her cunt on the sidewalk right now"

"Do you feel like your heart's just gonna fall out through your vagina?"

"I'm offended by all the supposed tos. I don't like women telling other women what to do, or how to do it, or when to do it"

"I cannot be smoted. I am unsmotable"

"I'll take care of you, I will be your crack spirit guide"

"Oh my god, ugh. My thighs are really rubbing together like nobody’s business. It’s like they’re red and raw and burning hot. It feels like I had an epic fuckfest with a ghost"

"I never do coke. Every time I do coke I shit my pants"

pies & crushes

Been working a lot the past few days (sick and wrong I know, but I need mad skrilla for cocktails and vintage markets and mermaid parades in New York in FOUR DAYSSS, ahh yeahhh). Yesterday I was working the bar at the Thames boat party for Green Man festival, which I'd never heard of but actually looks really good; has anyone been? Anyway, there was lots of bunting and balloons and fancy dress and strange musical instruments everywhere and pretty men with moustaches littering the place. Not a bad shift. And on Thurs me and the boy went to The Craft Beer Co. for 11% beers and pork pies, which was AMAZING. Recommend it.

this makes me feel as close to patriotic as I ever get

Also I have decided who I want to be when I grow up (so what if she is only 2 years older than I am. SHUT UP) and it's Julia Sarr-Jamois.

Dear LORD. I am in love.

will you shut up? it's a goddamn beautiful day, shut up!

It's a Grey Gardens kind of day. Hanging out with my equally weirdo sister & our mental cats, confused about the weather. Like looking into the future, ay?

big smoke & big apple

Yesterday I went to my friend Luna's graduate art show in the Truman Brewery in Brick Lane - nothing like a thousand green-haired, shaven-headed art students to remind a newly-returned Londoner that she's hoooome. I had a death hangover and I hardly saw Luna cuz she was running around all over the place, but there was an open bar and some of the pieces were pretty cool, SO I was happy wandering round in a daze sipping free beer and taking terrible phone photos.

ALSO, I desperately need advice and assistance. For someone so broke I have got quite a jazzy summer planned; I'm going to New York in just over a week, and Jordan in just under a month, and I've never been to either before. Any NY kids/enthusiasts out there, do you have suggestions for things to do? So far me and my buds are thinking art galleries, Coney Island and copious cocktails, but we also want to go to some flea markets, and maybe a gig or two. Suggestions for good bars/clubs/restaurants/fun things would be greatly appreciated!
